The Essentials
Got cabin fever? Take your ‘Sweetie’ to the tropics for a Valentine dinner get-away! On Saturday, February 16th Cleary University’s Johnson Center will be transformed into a tropical paradise featuring dinner the best in dancing, and live entertainment. Tickets are $50 each and include dinner and entry into a raffle drawing for a Caribbean trip for two. Island hoppers will have the opportunity to bid on an instant wine cellar and much more as they experience both a live and a silent auction, along with a 50/50 drawing, cash bar, and great fun for everyone all in the spirit of making a difference for our youth. The most important draw to the event comes from the fundraiser’s focus on youth hunger, homelessness, literacy and leadership, and the Club’s dedication of all proceeds from the event in support of youth initiatives and critical needs including The Connection House/Youth Connection Services and Reaching Higher. Good news for those who can’t be there and still want to help our youth: you don’t have to be present to win the vacation getaway drawing! For more information visit the club on Facebook or contact Aleia Jackson at 734.998.0746. The Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club continues it’s tradition of making winter a time to focus on special projects for youth. In 2012 the Club held its 3rd Annual Midnight in the Tropics fundraiser gala. Check out our Facebook page from last year. What To ExpectFeaturing an evening full of fun, your ticket purchase includes dinner, entry into a prize drawing, live entertainment, silent & live auctions, 50/50 drawing, cash bar, surprises, and much more. Come in your best tropical garden party attire, or favorite flip flops and Hawaiian shirt. The CausesThe most important draw of support came from the fundraiser’s main focus, youth, both local and international. In one evening, this focus netted over $16,000 that goes directly back into youth projects. These funds will go to help The Connection Youth Services in Howell, as well as Reaching Higher in Brighton. The Connection Youth Services helps teens and families in crisis, by providing emergency assistance, housing, employment, and education just to name a few. Reaching Higher was created to give middle school and high school students easy-to-use tools and practical strategies to improve self-esteem, foster positive life choices and promote higher education.
